How to Redirect Mail Online If a rule is used to redirect mail that you receive, it sends the message just as it is without any changes to an account that has been indicated by the rule. To the person who receives the mail, it looks as though the mail has come from the person who sent it originally. It will not show that the mail has been sent through your account. However, a copy of the mail will remain in your own inbox or in the particular folder where it had been originally received.

For example, a sales person for a company wants to transfer some accounts to anorether employee who is in charge of accounts at a different destination. There is no need to tell all the clients who will be affected by the changes about the occurring transfer. All what the sales person needs to do is come up with a rule which will be used to redirect mail. Once the rule is in place, all mail will be redirected to the person in charge of accounts who will continue from where the colleague left. This will happen without any sort of miscommunication.

It is not possible to redirect mail if the original sender has barred you from doing so by use of IRM. Any other mail can be redirected and the contents shared among many people though. If the sender removes restricted authorization on mail, it can be shared by many people. Messages which cannot be shared will be identified clearly by a message shown on the InfoBar. It is important to be careful because some company policies do not allow for forwarding of messages to outside addresses. If a message leaves a network, it could be distributed, diverted and intercepted by malicious people. This is one reason you should be very careful whenever you attempt to redirect mail.
